I finally found time last night to put a few items onto my christmas wishlist. My mom told me she's got buying me too many pieces of clothing (booooo) this year because she has some other big things in mind, but I decided to send her a few things anyway.

The thing you see on here are from either Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters, which are my two favorite stores. The shoes are pretty easy. Two pairs of sneaks which I LOOOVE and the a pair of Jeffrey Campbell's. I know. I'm predictable.

A trend you'll probably see is Chiffon, also not surprising since I am obsessed with Chiffon right now. Two surprises, however, might be the tshirt, since I'm not a huge tshirt girl, and the pants, since the only pants I ever wear are jeans. The shirt I just though was sort of cool and edgy, but the pants are a bit of a risk for me. I couldn't stop going back to them, so I decided to throw them in there. Maybe someone will pick them up for me.

Can't wait until Thanksgiving!! It's getting closer!!! x. Jill.

Winter Must Have: LBD

The little black dress is a piece that will never go out of style; it is simply timeless. Due to the seasons changing soon, this is a piece you definitely want to make sure you have around for the holiday season.

There are so many styles of dresses, and it all depends on what kind of occasion you'll be using it for. For parties involving family and co-workers, you might want to keep a more sophisticated style in mind. I love the one pictured above, it could be worn to anything. Of course if you wanted something sexier, a dress with small straps or a strapless sweetheart style is always flattering.

In the picture above, she wears black tights with black shoes- a look that is so easy to pull off and visually appealing to the eye. The color is not broken up by bare legs, which makes your legs look longer. If you are brave and want to go stocking-less during the winter months, choose a fun bright colored shoe or a nude shoe that matches your skin tone as close as possible.
Victoria Beckham is a perfect example of the nude shoe- it matches her skin perfectly which creates the illusion of long legs.

The best part of the LBD? You can have fun with it! It's virtually timeless and can be worn to a wide variety of occasions. By mixing up your accessories you can make it more casual and fun, or sexy and chic.

My last post in refreshing and renewing your closet! Now that we've cleaned out our closet and saved the clothes that are best for us we can go ahead and put everything back inside our closet in the most organized way possible!

You want to start by fixing up your closet a bit. Right now my closet has one long shelf at the top and then the normal bar to hang my clothes on. It works well enough for now, but I'm redoing it very soon (pictures when I'm done). Put some shelves up, add some lights, and don't be afraid to decorate in there! It's the place where you store you clothes. It's okay to want to be inspired by the place where you store to tools to creating individuality.

Once you have that out of the way you can start putting your clothes back in. I suggest organizing by type first. Shirts together, pants together, dresses together, skirts together, the list goes on and on. Once you have everything organized then go back in and organize by color. This is going to make it SUPER easy to find things. If you want you can even do it by length of the shirt (crop tops, regular length, then tunics).

I hope all of these tips in this series were super helpful!! If you redo your closet take some pictures and send them to me in a comment! I would love to get some ideas for when I redo my room in a few weeks!! :)

WINTER TIME SKIN CARE

Taking care of our skin is an essential step everyday; yes even during the cold months. UVA and UVB rays still penetrate through our atmosphere and are harmful to our skin and eyes. Make sure you take the extra step in picking out a moisturizer that has a minimum of SPF 15. This applies to guys as well as girls!

This moisturizer featured above is one of my tops picks; light and effective and can be found at any drugstore.

I mentioned on twitter early that everyone has to make a wish at 11:11 since today's date is 11/11/11! If you missed it this morning, you still have tonight to make your wishes! I know I made about a billion wishes and I'll make about a billion more tonight!

In honor of this very lucky day, I've put together a few of my favorite Lucky Brand pieces. What I love about Lucky Brand is how it's very country inspired a lot of the time. It's very earthy, but sophisticated. My favorite thing by far is lucky brand's shoes however. Whats your favorite lucky brand piece? let me know! x. Jill.

In honor of Veteran's Day I thought I would do an American Flag related post. My american flag shorts are one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I wear them year round (with shorts in the winter) because I think they are so great. Not only are they unique and trendy, but they're also super fashion forward. When people see you in them you can't help but love their outfit! As for the shirt, I think it would look amazing tucked into a pair of high-wasted jean shorts with a pair of amazing pumps! It's all about american flags recently, so be sure that you have something with that patriotic print in your closet! x. Jill.

When you're cleaning out your closet try to keep in mind the colors that are right for you skin tone! Not every color is right for every person and sometimes it's hard to tell, so I'm hear to help!!

The first step is to figure out which skin tone you are.
"Winter" complexions have blue or pink undertones. Skin can be pale white, yellowish-olive, or dark. Winter people are generally brunettes, with deeply colored eyes. Many Asians and African Americans fall into this category.

"Summer" complexions, like winter complexions, have blue or pink undertones. Skin is pale and pink. Summers are often natural blondes or brunettes with pale eyes.

"Autumn": Autumn complexions have golden undertones. Many redheads and brunettes with golden brown eyes fall into this category.

"Spring": Spring complexions have golden undertones and are usually creamy white or peach. Spring people generally have straw-colored or strawberry red hair, freckles, rosy cheeks, and blue or green eyes.

Now that you've figured out what color skin you have, here are the colors that are right for you!!
"Winter": Winters should wear colors that are sharp, stark and clear. White, black, navy blue, red and shocking pink all go well with winter complexions. For lighter colors, wear icy tones rather than pastels. Avoid subdued tones like beige, orange and gold.

"Summer": Summers should choose pastels and soft neutrals with rose and blue undertones. Lavender, plum, rose-brown and soft blue suit summers well while black and orange do not.

"Autumn": Autumns should select colors with golden undertones, like camel, beige, orange, gold and dark brown. Avoid colors with blue tones, like navy.

"Spring": Springs can wear warm colors like camel, peach, golden yellow and golden brown. Avoid dark, dull colors.

I hope this was helpful for all of you! x. Jill.

This is the first post in a series I'm going to do about renewing, refreshing, and cleaning out your wardrobe!

This first step is to pick out some basics from your wardrobe! I know I have about a billion "basics" in my wardrobe when I only wear about 10 of them. So pick out a few of your favorites (the most interesting ones) and get rid of the rest! Keep a black tank top, a white tank top, a few plain t-shirts (perhaps with a lace detail like the one above), a few pairs of jeans, a few plain jackets, and make sure you have a nice pair of black heels! Besides that get rid of the rest! You'll never wear all of the ones you have. Donate them! There are tons of people who would love to have the clothes you're not even wearing!

Next tip coming tomorrow!! x. Jill.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: LEGGINGS THE RIGHT WAY

It still blows my mind that I walk around school, the mall, or any other public place where people gawk and see girls substituting leggings for pants. It doesn't matter how thick they are or how nice you think your butt is, it's awkward for everyone.

Leggings are leggings, and when worn the right way they look great. Nicole Richie above is an excellent example to wear leggings the correct way. You can wear your short shorts from summer in the winter still by adding tights or leggings!! Leggings are a wardrobe enhancer- NOT a substitute for your favorite skinny jeans. The rule for leggings is they must cover both front and back completely. It could be a long shirt, a skirt, shorts, whatever. Just hide the goods.

Lets face it, no one wants to be "that girl", and I mean in the picture above. I think we've all seen that in real life, and it's terrifying. Yes they're comfortable, but instead of using leggings as pants, go out and find a pair of black pants that are made for that specific purpose. I live by my black skinny jeans, they're comfortable and can be worn with almost anything.

Please ladies, take my warning!! Do the right thing for all humanity.

Fight Winter Hair Breakage!

We all dread this time of year; especially the cold dry air that seems to suck the life of hair. Luckily there are a couple different tips you can start to use immediately to fight breakage this winter!

Use shampoo twice a week. I didn't say skip showering all together ;). Shampoo strips hair of its natural oils which are essential for healthy hair- yes even moisturizing ones. To fight dryness, wet hair as you would to shampoo except skip straight to conditioner. Work into hair, massage scalp with the pads of your fingers. This will get the dirt and oil out of your hair- without stripping it. Leave it in the full length of your shower and rinse with warm/cold water. Colder water seals the hair shaft, trapping in the necessary moisture.

Style with care. Avoiding daily blowouts and extra styling is nearly impossible, especially during these months when hair can get unruly. However there are some things you can do to cut down breakage. Let your hair air dry until its slightly damp, then blow out. Also dont skimp on the leave in conditioner and heat protecting spray!! I absolutely love dry shampoo, it saves you time and is better for your hair than the constant washing & styling. My favorite is Suave's Dry Shampoo Spray, $3 at local drugstores. Spray a bit in roots, let it set it, and brush through. Your hair has just been extended another day with the smell of freshness!

Deep condition once a week. My favorite and most effective way to deep condition is to get a super thick hair mask - regular moisturizing conditioner will work too! - and slather on dry hair. When hair is dry, it will absorb the most amount of moisture. Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse. If you want to take it up a notch, re-use a plastic grocery bag and tie around your hair. The heat from your scalp will be trapped under the bag, letting the conditioner soak in even deeper.

Also- don't forget to trim dead ends! Even just a slight dusting off ends every month will save you in the long run. You won't notice any length gone, and the more you do it, the healthier your hair will look & feel.

By practicing these tips weekly, you'll have Gisels's hair in no time!!

Before this year I was never big on wearing heels anywhere but to special occasions, but now it's hard to find me in a pair of flats. I am going through a HUGE heels stage and I honestly don't think it will ever end. My favorite pair from in the picture would have to be the sparkly shoes. I'm such a girly girl and I die for anything that's pink or has sparkles (or both!). But aside from that I love the pair right under them too! The color is so beautiful and unique! Can't wait to get my hands on those puppies!! x. Jill

Winter formal is rolling around at my old high school, so I thought I would share some of my favorite formal dresses. I love a beautiful red or blue dress for a winter formal- red being christmas-like and blue being winter-like. I also love a simple black dress because it will work for every occasion. I love the unique shapes in the dresses above. They're all so creative, beautiful, and easy to accessorize.

My freshest obsession. The blanket coat. Sort of more like a poncho, but if thats what they want to call them, I'll go with it. The first one on the spread up there is my favorite favorite favorite! I love the colors and the way it brings a super summer feel to a very winter piece of clothing. x. Jill

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Do you like this trend? Is it too much like a poncho for you?

Boots are such an important part of my winter wardrobe. Whether it's short boots, tall boots, or a pair of fabulous wedged boots, they're pretty much the only thing I'll wear during the winter. I love a fun boot that can add style and chicness to your outfit. The next boot on my list are the amazing Cheetah Print wedges! I can't wait to slap those on and strut! x.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Whats your favorite pair of boots?

Soft Leather

Just a super quick little photoshoot I did! I'm still practicing using my new camera and getting the hang of selfies with it (which is proving to be difficult), but I'm getting there! This is just an outfit I wore to school that I thought was sort of cute! All dark and sort of "harsh" pieces with a soft, pink scarf. A great way to mix hard and soft. Mixing hard and soft is the best during winter!! Try it!! x.

FASHION:
Jeans: Pacsun
Shirt: Forever 21
Scarf: H&M
Jacket: Walmart (Miley and Max Collection! Super cute!)
Boots: Forever 21

Plus, it's really not that expensive if you're willing to shop at places like Forever 21 and H&M! So go pick something up asap!!! x.

This is honestly my favorite thing in my makeup collection: The Endless Color Blockbuster. Only 69 dollars with a 435 dollar value it's perfect for people like me who are always traveling it's great! It includes 98 eye shadow shades, 70 lip glosses, 3 eye liners, 2 lip liners, 1 mascara, and 3 blushes, so it has pretty much everything you need! The only other things I pack are brushes (since theirs aren't the best). This is a MUST HAVE and a perfect gift to ask for or give!! Enjoy!! x.

The very last photoshoot I'll do with my webcam since I bought a Rebel T3 shortly after doing this!! So excited!! :) Anyway! This is all about taking summer to winter again!! This is such a cute idea I actually got from Teen Vogue! You basically take a sort of plain summer dress and then add a flannel on top! So cute, right?! I did it a few days ago with a white dress and a red flannel which was actually super holiday-ish! Can't wait to start being able to make all my own content now that I have my camera!! x.
